HOMA operates through a decentralized and collaborative governance model rooted in feminist and anti-carceral values. The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight, ensures ethical integrity, and supports high-level decision-making. Executive management is responsible for day-to-day operations and program implementation.
Our leadership model is designed to promote shared responsibility, accountability, and transparency. Strategic decisions—including external partnerships, public positioning, and structural changes—are made through a defined voting process involving board members and executive leadership.
HOMA’s internal operations follow trauma-informed and non-hierarchical practices. Governance and implementation roles are clearly separated: the Board offers strategic guidance but does not interfere with daily programmatic decisions. All decision-making is informed by community consultation and grounded in principles of inclusion, transparency, and collective care.
